Fitters comments:
1. Find centre on back bumper and measure hole positions from centre of
bumper . My measurements were 20.5cm for each of the middle two sensors from
centre mark and 62cm for the two outer sensors from the centre mark. See
photos for approximate vertical/horizontal sensor positions. There is plenty
of space behind the bumper. However make sure you are above metal plate
before drilling holes.
2. All 4 sensor wires were passed through a grommet located on the rear
panel on underside of vehicle immediately above the exhaust on drivers side.
This grommet enters the wheel well next to location of the wheel jack.
Remove the wheel jack to give more access for wiring. Tidy up wiring into a
loom using insulating tape and ensure you seal the grommet around the wire
both inside and out with leak sealant paste.
3. The earth wire was crimped to a suitably sized spade connector and fitted
to the light cluster holding/fixing nut which provides a convenient earth to
the vehicle chassis for the CPU.
4. The reverse light feed however has to be provided from the reversing
lights which are located in the tailgate for this vehicle. The best way to
do this is to locate the reverse light feed wire from inside the loom that
leads down inside the headlining inside the vehicle. Carefully remove the
three plastic rivets and pull down the rear section of the headlining away
from boot rubber sealing strip to reveal on passengers side the loom coming
from the tailgate bulbs/wires. Cut into this loom carefully to separate
wires and test to find correct wire that produces +12V output when reverse
is selected . Note that there are about 8 wires which unfortunately are all
black. Most are thinner but at least two are thicker gauge. I found by
testing all wires that one of the two thicker black wires produced a
switched +12V when reverse was selected on/off. I spliced a suitable length
of wire to this wire using the supplied scotch lock and then ran this wire
around the headlining and down behind the internal side panels/
rubber sealing strip until I could join it to the CPU.
5. Test system and then tidy up and tape up all loose lengths of wire and
tuck CPU and wiring into wheel /panel space immediately in front of wheel
jack . Put back headlining and wheel jack.
